Military Child Custody

The military has internal regulations about members enlisting when they have children.  Service members with dependents usually have Family Care Plans providing for the care of their families when they are deployed or unavailable.  Some states do not really address the military aspects of a child custody case.  North Carolina does have legislation in place to deal with a member’s unique circumstances.   Known as The Uniform Deployed Parents Custody and Visitation Act, this law sets out responsibilities of deploying parents, and protects them from discrimination based only on past deployment.
